FAQs

Jewelry

What is your jewelry made of?

Our pieces come in these materials:

  • 14k Gold Filled – a thick layer of gold bonded over a base metal, so it is durable, hypoallergenic and made to last. This is our most popular option.
  • Sterling Silver – .925 sterling silver, hypoallergenic, offered as an alternative on most pieces.
  • 14k Gold Vermeil – 14k gold plated over sterling silver, available on select pieces.
  • 14k Solid Gold – a premium option on select pieces.

Some designs also feature natural gemstones (such as labradorite, moonstone, rose quartz, amethyst, opal and freshwater pearls) or cubic zirconia. Every material is listed in the product description.

Does your jewelry have nickel?

No, none of our jewelry contains nickel. Every piece is hypoallergenic, so even people with metal allergies can wear it!

Can I shower with my jewelry?

In most cases, yes! Our 14k gold filled and sterling silver pieces hold up to everyday wear, including showering and sleeping in them. There are a few exceptions:

  • Pieces with natural gemstone pendants (like spike necklaces, druzy necklaces and the Dainty Opal Necklace) should NOT get wet, since water can damage the stone or its setting.
  • Always check each product description for its specific care notes.
How do I care for my jewelry?
  • Wipe your jewelry with a soft, gentle cloth after each wear.
  • Keep it in a sealed zip bag when you are not wearing it.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals such as pool and hot tub chlorine, lotion, perfume and hairspray.
  • Take it off to sleep to avoid unnecessary wear and tear.
  • If it starts to look dull, a polishing cloth will bring the shine right back!
  • To clean it, wash with lukewarm water and unscented soap.

For step-by-step instructions, read our guide on How to Care for Your Jewelry.

How can I keep my jewelry from tangling?

Our layered necklace detangler is the perfect fix. Just clasp your necklaces onto the detangler, then open and close its clasp around your neck – a bonus is that you put on 2–4 necklaces at once instead of one by one. Tips:

  • Mix different chain styles to prevent tangling.
  • Pair longer/heavier necklaces with shorter/lighter ones.
  • Unclasp the necklace and hold it by one end so all the twists fall out, then clasp it back on.
How do I pick my necklace size or ring size?

Our Jewelry Sizing Guide has a handy necklace chart and a ring chart. We also offer a reusable Free Ring Sizer – you only pay for shipping!

Will I have to pay a customs/duty fee?

It depends on where you live. At checkout you can prepay duties and taxes – look for the "Duties and Taxes included" option. If you pick any other method, you may need to pay customs fees separately. Most packages arrive with no extra charges, but some may be charged (especially in the UK). We have no control over how your country applies duties and are not responsible for paying customs taxes on international orders.

What if my package is lost/stolen?

If an order shows as delivered but never reached you, it is the buyer’s responsibility to contact USPS to locate the package. Once a package leaves our studio, it is out of our control, and Simpleanddainty is not responsible for packages lost in the mail.

Returns

If I am not happy with my item, can I return it?

Yes! You can return items within 30 days of your order date, as long as they meet all of the following:

  • The jewelry is unworn, with no visible signs of use (including perfume or other scents).
  • All original packaging is included.
  • Personalized jewelry and final sale items cannot be returned.

US orders: send your jewelry back within 30 days of ordering with a pre-paid label. Choose store credit (return shipping is free and you get an extra $5 credit per order) or a refund to your original payment method ($8 return shipping is deducted from the refund).

International orders: send it back within 30 days and choose store credit or a refund to your original payment method. Return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Returns are processed within 1–2 weeks of receiving the package, and you will get a confirmation email once it is done. See Returns & Exchanges for more details.

Can I exchange my jewelry?

Yes, for the same item in a different color or size, depending on availability. If you would rather have something else, choose store credit and pick a piece you love! Exchanges are free for US orders; international customers cover return shipping.

When will I get my store credit/refund?

Returns are processed within 1–2 weeks after your package reaches our PO box.

If I return one ring or stud from a bundle, do I get to keep the discount?

Ring and stud bundles keep their discount only while you still have 3 or 6 pieces. If a return drops you below that number, the discount no longer applies:

  • Keep at least 3 pieces to hold on to the 15% discount.
  • Keep at least 6 pieces to hold on to the 25% discount.

For example, returning 1 of 3 rings means the 2 rings you keep are charged at full price. Returning 1 of 6 rings lowers your discount from 25% to 15%.

ETC.

Do you offer gift wrapping?

Every jewelry order includes a complimentary gift pouch, ready to give. The other pieces in that order arrive in a cute peach envelope with a sleeve, also gift-ready. Add-ons on their own (like detanglers and extenders) do not come with pouches. Packing slips never show prices, and extra gift pouches are available for $2.

Can I try your jewelry on in store?

Unfortunately not – we are currently 100% online. We may look into having stockists in the future, though!

Do you wholesale?

We are currently accepting a few retailers! Email us at contact@simpleanddaintynecklace.com with some information about your shop.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes! Every purchase is covered by a 6-month warranty from the purchase date against manufacturer defects, such as a spring clasp breaking, a chain coming apart, or a chain snapping without force. Visit our Warranty page to see how to submit a request.
